Fire destroys home, carport and cars, one out building; plus several pets perish

Seven Montague County fire departments responded to a house fire on Hildreth Pool Road early Thursday where multiple structures were destroyed and several family pets were lost.
Randall Preuninger, fire chief of the Bowie Rural Volunteer Fire Department said the structure fire was paged at 7:04 a.m. at 249 Hildreth Pool Road.

“It was originally reported with possible entrapment, but upon arrival the occupant, Patti Lockridge, was outside and was later tended to by Bowie EMS, later being released to her family,” said the chief.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
