Primary elections to see three contested county races

Texas party primary filing ended on Dec. 8 and there will be three contested Montague County races on the Republican ticket next March.
Melody Gillespie, county Republican Party Chairwoman, said on the final day Bryan Chisholm joined the race for Montague County judge facing off with Angelia Richardson. This make three contested races one of county judge, Justice of the Peace Two and commissioner precinct two.
There is no organized Democratic Party in Montague County so all of the local candidates have filed with the Republican Party. Each party will conduct a party primary election on March 3, 2026, and those winners will battle it out in the general election.

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
