Bowie City Council votes to contract out its trade inspections, plan reviews

Beginning Jan. 1, 2015, the City of Bowie will begin contracting with Bureau Veritas to conduct its building plan reviews and the majority of its trade inspections.

The council approved the new contract at its Tuesday meeting. Councilor Tim Adams was the only no vote. Councilor Dana Hulstine was absent.

At this time, inspections are conducted by heads of the electric and water distribution departments, and the city code enforcement office staff. The fire department does fire code and fire sprinkler inspections, and would continue that under the new contract. Read the full story on these changes in your weekend News.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter

Repairs prompt boil order

A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
