Bowie City Council approves master plan study for parks
The Bowie City Council gave approval for the park’s board to expend funds for several projects including the development of an economic impact study and master plan for all the parks.
Council members received recommendations from the park’s board at its Tuesday night meeting. Randy West, board chairman, was present to answer questions.
Regarding the master plan and economic impact study, the board recommends spending up to $66,900. West said the last plan was done in 2004 and is out of date.
Mayor Larry Slack said the new plan would allow the city to apply for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grants and the Nortex Regional Planning Commission can assist with the application. In making the motion to approve the study, Councilor Wayne Bell suggested the board also consider creating interconnecting trails for these parks for the master plan.
