SIGNINGS: Nocona’s Hayes to play football at Wayland Baptist

Barkley Hayes was a first-team all-District 2-3A-II selection on both the offensive and defensive lines for Nocona this past season.
The Indians finished with a 2-8 record, but scored double the points (160) they did in 2014, thanks in part to Hayes’ improvement – especially on the offensive line.
Hays will join Bowie’s Jared Roberts and Muenster’s Dalton Bartel at Wayland Baptist, a program coming off a 4-6 record in the Central States Football League – which includes schools in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Arizona and Texas.
“Barkley was a three-year starter,” Nocona head coach Brad Keck said. “He has the ability and smarts.”
Keck said Hayes’ height will be an advantage. Barkley stands 6-foot-3 and weighs more than 240 pounds. Read more in the May 21 Bowie News.
