LOCAL: Aubrey JV tops Bowie in opener
The Bowie High School junior varsity football team suffered a 37-0 loss in its season opener on the road at Aubrey.
Junior varsity head coach Quentin Berend reported the Jackrabbits traversed inside the Chaparrals’ 20-yard line just once.
Payton Price had a pair of long runs, the best the offense could muster in the game.
On defense, Bowie’s Joey Crawford recorded an interception – the top highlight for the team.
Athletic director and head coach Dylan Stark said Bowie will field a combined JV/freshman team this season, based on numbers.
Aubrey’s team featured mainly juniors and sophomores.
Bowie will play Howe at 7 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Jackrabbit Stadium, the home debut.
