HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Holliday sweeps Nocona

Holliday is considered one of the three teams that could very well claim the District 3A-8 title this season.
The Lady Eagles visited Nocona on Saturday afternoon, and the Lady Indians were aiming for an upset.
Unfortunately, the upset never materialized as Holliday defeated Nocona in three games by scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-21.
“Our offense has to become more aggressive,” said Nocona head coach Tiffany Clay. “When you have one girl in double digits in kills, and the rest of your team’s kills don’t add up to that one player’s number of kills, it creates a target on your leading hitter.”
Four girls returned for the 2016 season with experience, but Holliday had too much firepower along the front line for Nocona.
The Lady Indians dropped to 12-15 on the season, heading into Tuesday’s 3A-8 match at Henrietta. The team returns home for a district match versus Jacksboro on Friday.
There were other problems for the Lady Indians in the match. What were the gory details? Four missed serves, 12 hitting errors and five dropped balls. Read more in the Sept. 14 Bowie News.
