The Nocona Lady Indians defeated Henrietta in a rare Wednesday night game to win their first district game of the season.
The game against the rival teams was originally scheduled for Tuesday night when citizens of Henrietta experienced a wide-spread power outage that included Henrietta High School.
The outage forced the teams to move the competition to Wednesday night, where Nocona defeated Henrietta 25-20, 25-20, 27-29 and 26-24.
“We jumped out on them early in the first set with serving aggressively and getting them out of system,” said Head Coach Tiffany Clay. “Our serve receive passes were good and when we have a good receiving game it allows other areas of the game to come together.”
Leading the team on passing digs was Angel Rhudy with 20 of the team’s outstanding 126 digs. Magye Fenoglio contributed 19 to the total, with Patty Espinoza and Karson Phipps adding 14 each. Read more in the Sept. 17 Bowie News.
