Energy downturn’s latest victim: Gilbow Tank Trucks closes its doors

The ongoing downturn in the energy industry has claimed another victim as Gilbow Tank Trucks prepared to close its doors on Friday.
Owner Jim Gilbow said late Friday afternoon he anticipated the doors would be closed by early Saturday morning. He had already let go about 23 employees a few days earlier.
Gilbow has owned the tank truck business since 2002, and has been in the drilling mud business since 1973, so he has seen the ups and down of the industry.
“I think this has been the worst yet because it has lasted so long. The rest of them have not been like this. I don’t see anything on the horizon that will make a change,” explained the owner.

The heat advisory that has been in place all week continues until 8 p.m. Friday night.
The National Weather Service reports strong high pressure overhead will bring triple digit high temperatures along with heat index readings approaching 110 degrees for much of next week. To reduce risk of heat related illnesses when outdoors, schedule frequent breaks in shaded or air conditioned areas, and stay hydrated.
Make sure to check on your older neighbors to make sure they are staying cool and hydrates, and make sure pets have shade and water.
