This summer has been quite busy for former Bowie High School baseball player Gabe Allen, traveling to college tryouts.
Allen on July 7 made word official he was going to play for Ranger, a member school of the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.
Ranger finished with a 16-40 record last season, 5-27 in the conference. Josh Blakley serves as the head coach for the Rangers.
“Ranger gave me a guaranteed spot,” said Allen, who was a second-team all-District 3A-8 selection this past season.
“Words can’t describe how I feel,” Allen continued about continuing to play on the college level. “It means a lot. This is the sport I have played since I was three years old, and I wanted to continue playing it.”
Allen spent the past couple of months at tryouts for various colleges: Angelina, Texas Wesleyan, Southwest Assemblies of God, Tyler Junior College and Central Baptist – the last school located all the way in Arkansas.
