The Bowie High School volleyball team participated in the “Battle at the Dome,” for the second straight year.
Competition was at a fever pitch. While Bowie played well against fierce foes, the Lady Rabbits suffered sweeps versus Conference 2A ranked Archer City and Conference 5A Wichita Falls Rider.
Archer City topped Bowie in the first match 25-22, 25-18 and 25-23, despite a strong hitting game from Ivy Dennis.
Rider also proved too tough for the Lady Rabbits, winning by scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-12.
“I told the girls to compete for every point no matter what the score was,” said Breanna Jones, Bowie’s first-year coach who made her debut on Tuesday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on the Midwestern State University campus in Wichita Falls.
Bowie fell to 0-2 heading into Friday’s ASC/Nike Tournament, which took place on Friday at Denton Ryan High School. The Lady Rabbits played Anna and Argyle’s Liberty Christian in pool play. Read more in the Aug. 12 Bowie News.
