Lady Rabbits avenge loss

Published

on

The Bowie Lady Rabbit’s depth proved to be the difference in their second match up against Graham on the road Friday night.

In the two team’s first matchup during the Lady Rabbit’s “Hoopin” into the Holidays” tournament, it was the Lady Steers who sealed the win with a shot at the buzzer. However, this time around, the Lady Rabbits retaliated with a 43-39 win.

“They are a good team but we played well. Our bench played extremely well, including Landra Parr, Lexi Kirkham and Taygon Jones. I don’t put any bearing on the first game because we played at 9 a.m. and when you are playing high school basketball at that time, you never know what you are going to get,” laughed Bowie Coach Chuck Hall.

However, both teams were on top of their game for the second matchup. The Lady Rabbits jumped ahead of Graham and led 12-9 by the end of thee first but let the second quarter get the best of them as it was Graham’s turn to outscore the visiting team 10 to eight, leaving the Lady Rabbits ahead by just one point heading into halftime.

Bowie, Nocona compete in VB scrimmages

Published

Nocona’s volleyball team headed to Bowie for a three-team scrimmage with the host team and Ponder Aug. 7.

Each team played the other two for 30 minutes in the Lady Rabbit gym. Lady Indian Coach Sandy Langford said she thought things went well for a first scrimmage.

“Just like any young team that is trying to find itself in a first scrimmage, We looked really good at times and at others not so much,” Langford said. “We’re forming a new team after losing a lot of seniors.”

Langford said the squad would have one thing go wrong and it would explode into several things. That will need to stop for a successful year in Langford’s mind.
