Bowie Jackrabbits ready homecoming events
Celebrate Bowie High School homecoming this week with school costume days, pep rallies, a parade and bonfire and football.
Throughout the week the different campuses will have dress-up days. Sept. 9 is “Marvel Monday, dress up as your favorite Marvel character; Sept. 10 is Disney Tuesday, followed by Patriotic Wednesday, Sports Thursday and Football Friday.
Wednesday opens with mini pep rallies at the local pre-schools at Smarty Pants at 10:30 a.m. and Happy Hearts at 11 a.m.
The downtown parade begins at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Coordinated by the booster club, entry forms are available on the club’s Facebook page, and at the high school and elementary campus. Theme for the parade is “Red, White and Bowie,” following the patriotic Wednesday mantra.
Festivities continue from 8-10 p.m. with the bonfire presented by Project Graduation at Selma Park. Admission will be $1 per person with food and drinks available, live music and deejay.
Football Friday is everyone’s day to wear maroon and white. There will be mini pep rallies all morning starting with the elementary at 8 a.m., intermediate at 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. at Advanced Rehab. The high school campus pep rally will be at 12:10 p.m.
The homecoming game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with Bowie taking on Henrietta. The homecoming court will be presented during half-time.

BJH band rehearses holiday show
The Bowie Junior High band Christmas concert will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 16 in the junior high auditorium. It will feature the sixth grade band, white, maroon and BJH choir.
Families are invited to attend as the Christmas season begins.

Elementary students plan Christmas event
The popular Christmas concert by the Bowie Elementary School kindergarten-second grade students will be at 5 p.m. on Dec. 11 in the high school gym.
The community is invited to attend this always entertaining show.

The Bowie Independent School District bands are preparing for their annual holiday concerts.
The high school band will perform at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 in the high school gym. The concert will feature the jazz band, Mighty Marching Maroon and the high school choir.
The junior high band Christmas concert will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 16 in the junior high auditorium. It will feature the sixth grade band, white, maroon and BJH choir.
Families are invited to attend as the Christmas season begins.
