Bowie ER to celebrate its ‘grand opening’
The grand opening of the Faith Community Health System’s Bowie emergency room will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting at noon on Oct. 23.
The Bowie Chamber of Commerce will conduct the ribbon cutting. Tours of the ER facility will be available pending patient volume. Local and hospital officials are expected to speak. The public is invited to come help celebrate the official grand opening.
Located at 705 East Greenwood, the Bowie ER opened on Oct. 1 as the facility went live with its emergency care. The opening was the culmination of nearly two years of work by Faith Community to renovate the former Bowie hospital ER area.
Frank Beaman, chief executive officer for Faith Community, said at the soft opening two weeks ago it was a very proud moment to see the project completed. He noted the goals for the future are to move this ER into outpatient services, observation and some therapies. It will not be developed to include inpatient services based on the present rules for which it was designed, which is a full hospital ER.

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
