Bowie City Council meets on March 10

The Bowie City Council will receive the 2024-25 outside audit as its March 10 meeting that begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers.
Staff from Mathis, West and Huffines accounting firm will present the fiscal year-end report.
Also in new business, the resignation of Councilor Brandon Walker will be presented. The city has 30 days to fill the vacancy. The term runs out in November.
Public Management’s Kaitlyn Higgins-Drake, will provide the council an update on the comprehensive plan being prepared by the company for Bowie.
City officials have been conducting planning sessions and public meetings in recent months as part of the development of a long-term master plan.
Two resolutions will be offered: One is for a grant application of interoperable P25 digital handheld radios and the second would continue the city’s membership in the Atmos Cities Steering Committee, which advocates for its members in regard to Atmos rate filings. Membership costs the city four cents per capita.
There are only two items of old business related to the removal of the section in the city code allowing tiny homes inside the city.

Five Montague County high schools will present their seniors with diplomas during ceremonies on their campuses.
Meet the valedictorian and salutatorian from each school in today’s Bowie News. Also inside the edition find the Graduation Keepsake Section featuring photos of seniors from every county school and Bellevue.

Graduation for the 2026 class of Jackrabbits will be at 8 p.m. on May 22 at the high school stadium.

Bowie kindergarten students graduate

Youngsters received their diplomas during ceremonies on Tuesday night as they move on to first grade. The children were invited to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up.
