An 85-year-old Chico man died in a single-vessel boating accident on Lake Amon G. Carter on Sunday afternoon.
Texas Game Warden Preston Kleinman said the possible drowning call came in around noon on June 28 on the lake near Tettleton Circle.
According to witnesses, Kleinman found Billy Mack Davidson was loading his aluminum bass boat on its trailer when the throttle was accidentally pushed forward.
Davidson was ejected from the vessel and a nearby family member attempted to rescue him, but was unsuccessful. A short time later, Davidson was recovered by the Wise County Fire Department.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Davidson’s family and friends during this difficult time. We appreciate the assistance of our partner agencies,” said the game warden.
