Upper Trinity Board to consider proposed rule changes
Members of the Upper Trinity Groundwater Conservation District Board of Directors will continue discussions on proposed changes to district rules when they gather for a work session with legal counsel at noon on Aug. 27 at the Springtown office.
The agenda lists a closed executive session to consult with the district legal counsel on the development of proposed amendments to the district rules. Any action would taken back in open session.
Later that day at 5 p.m. there will be a public hearing and regular board meeting. The hearing centers on the proposed amendments to the district rules and will accept public comments. Possible amendments also may be presented.
The rule changes cover a vast array of topics including permit allocation and spacing. These proposals can be seen on the district website at uppertrinitygcd.com or questions can be directed to 817-523-5200. The Upper Trinity serves Montague, Wise, Parker and Hood Counties helping them to maintain local control over their groundwater, protect property rights of landowners and operate in a fair and equitable manner for all residents.
A second public hearing is set to consider an operating permit amendment for Kelly Ranch Estates in Weatherford. The regular agenda items including all the monthly operational reports, finances, research and data efforts, filings with the Railroad Commission and report from legal counsel.

Area young people from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to take part in the Art of the Song Young Visual and Performing Arts Exhibition on Oct. 10 during the annual music festival in Nocona.
Entry is free and artists may enter up to three pieces of artwork. One entry must be music-related, while the other two can be any art medium or genre. Drop-off artwork from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 7 at 103 Clay Street.

The staff, board of directors and volunteers of Tales ‘N’ Trails Museum are making plans for the group’s major fundraiser, “Shebang” on Sept. 26.
This year Shebang will join in all the celebrations for America’s 250th birthday.
Mark your calendar when the doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and $350 for a table of eight. Shebang takes place in the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street.
The evening will feature a dinner prepared by local chefs, fun games where you could win a prize, live and silent auctions, plus the popular bucket auction where you never know who will win. A new menu is being served that will feature prime rib, roasted sweet potatoes, hominy casserole, broccoli salad and strawberry shortcake.
