Dog Days of Summer settle in
While the official temperature recorded at the Bowie Water Plant says we have not reached 100 degrees, most local residents would disagree.
As of Friday, the highest temperature at the plant was 98 degrees on July 31.
Many of the digital thermometers around town have shown as high as 103 degrees this week. Add in the heat index it has been sweltering.
Nocona reached its first 100-degree day on Thursday as the high was 101.4 degrees recorded at the fire station.
The “Dog Days of Summer” have definitely settled in.
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
