Montague County 4-H banquet this Sunday

The Montague County 4-H Youth will host the annual awards banquet at 2 p.m. Aug. 16 in the courthouse annex at Montague.
4-H youth and families are invited to attend as the youth conduct the banquet, as well as receive awards for their accomplishments over the last year.
Justin Hansard and Elsie Lacey, both county AgriLife Extension agents, help coordinate 4-H activities along with other adult volunteers.
They report $47,000 in 4-H scholarships were awarded to six deserving youth from the county back in June.
A meal will be served with no charge to 4-H youth and their parents, but there will be a $10 charge for others who would like to attend.
Any former Gold Star winner is invited to attend and be recognized. Call the extension office at 894-2831 to reserve a place.
Awards will include the Bronze, Silver and Gold Star honors along with citizenship, Danforth ‘I Dare You’, helping hand, plus record book awards. To reserve a place for the banquet call 940-894-2831.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.

Youngsters attend swimming lessons this week
