Forestburg Rodeo set for Aug. 8-9

Forestburg Store will present the Forestburg Rodeo, dubbed “The Biggest Little Rodeo in Texas,” on Aug. 8-9.
Mutton bustin’ will begin the show both nights at 8 p.m., followed by the rodeo one-half hour later.
The rodeo takes place in conjunction with the 34th annual Forestburg Watermelon Festival, which will feature a parade at 10:30 a.m.
The rodeo is sanctioned by both the Texas Cowboys Rodeo Association and United Professional Rodeo Association.
Big L Rodeo of Rubottom, Okla., is providing the stock.
The Forestburg Riding Club is serving as the host, and the group will put on a performance both evenings.
Events are as follows: bareback riding, saddle bronc, ranch bronc, bull riding and calf roping and senior barrels.
There also will be team roping, double mugging, junior barrels and breakaway roping. The team roping and double mugging events will feature nightly jackpots. Added money will be paid on average.
The purse is $4,600.
The admission fee is $8 for adults and $6 for children.
At the end of Saturday’s rodeo, there will be a dance with the musical act Quickdraw.
Books will open on Aug. 4 from 5-10 p.m.
