LOCAL: Course revealed for upcoming BTX bicycle race

The third annual BTX Roundup and Ride is set for Chicken and Bread Days Weekend on Oct. 9.
There will be 12-, 22-, 40- and 60-mile bicycle rides throughout Montague, Jack and Clay Counties.
The 80-mile route has been removed this year.
In 2013 and 2014, the 12- and 22-mile routes coursed along the United States Highway 287 service roads.
This year, these distances will head out along the same routes as the 40- and 60-mile rides. Those riding 12- or 22-mile routes will just turn back sooner.
The 22-mile race has an ascent of 7861 feet and maximum elevation of 1,153 feet. The 40-mile ride features an ascent of 1,505 feet and maximum elevation of 1,220.5 feet. The 60-mile race has a total ascent of 2,069 feet.
The main part of the 12- and 22-mile race will follow Farm-to-Market 1125. The longer races also will traverse FM 2127 to a point south of Newport.
To register for the event, log onto the website BikeReg.com/btx-roundup-ride.
The registration fee is $30.
For information, email btxroundupride@hotmail.com or call event coordinator TJay McEwen at 1-806-236-9259.
