SUBVARSITY FOOTBALL: Cardinals clip Jackrabbits in JV action

The Bowie High School junior varsity football team nearly pulled off a victory on Thursday night at Jackrabbit Stadium.
However, Pottsboro kicked the game-winning extra point with 1 minute, 37 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Bowie had one final possession to win the game; however, the Jackrabbits stalled at the Cardinals’ 24-yard line.
With the loss, Bowie dropped to 1-2-1 on the season. Next Thursday, the Jackrabbits play host to Gunter.
“We swarmed to the ball, we flew to the ball on defense,” said proud junior varsity coach Quentin Berend after the game. “We moved the ball well all night on offense, but we just couldn’t finish some drives.”
Chandler Allison and Oscar Moreno were named the defensive standouts.
Bret Davis scored all three of Bowie’s touchdowns on runs from distances of 2, 3 and 55 yards away. Gabe Allen made a two-point conversion. Read more, and see the complete box score, in the weekend Bowie News.
