A jury gave a 33-year-old Bowie man 60 years in prison after finding him guilty of evading arrest in a three-day trial last week.
Assistant District Attorney Kevin Henry said the sentence was handed down to Chayse Daniel Hodges on Oct. 8. Jury selection began on Tuesday morning with Henry and District Attorney Paige Williams handling the prosecution.
Testimony began Wednesday morning, and it went to the jury that afternoon. The punishment phase followed and was decided Friday morning.
Hodges received 60 years in prison on a charge of evading arrest. Henry explains the man had two prior felony convictions, which fell under the habitual offender’s statute where a jury could give 25 years or 99 to life. Read the full story in your mid-week News.
