HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Australian team playing in Bowie Tourney
Braemer College, a high school located in the state of Victoria, Australia, will be playing the Bowie High School boys’ basketball tournament on Dec. 3-5.
It was learned during Monday’s Bowie Athletic Booster Club meeting at Bowie High School there is a need for more host families to house boys during a two-day period.
Braemer will have both a varsity and freshman team in the tournament. There will be 24 boys in all.
Koni Jones, coordinator, reported there are 11 host families so far.

Basketball coaches gave reports.
Head boys’ basketball coach Doug Boxell announced there will be a special ceremony honoring the 1974 state championship team during the Jackrabbits’ home game versus Nocona on Jan. 8.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
