While the number of exhibitors was down slightly, a total of 293 students from all schools in the county showed off months of hard work and dedication at the 2016 Montague County Youth Fair.
Animals of all breeds, aprons, photos, trailers and pickled vegetables were just a few of the many items judged across 993 entries. This compares to 315 exhibitors and 1,042 entries for the 2015 fair.
The fair opened the morning of Jan. 7 with the rabbit show and continued across nearly three days of competition. It concluded with the Clover Kids Parade on Saturday, followed by the premium sale.
Kenton Holloway, youth fair committee treasurer, said early calculations show the sale raised around $98,000. An exact number will be in after the pledge sheets are all returned. Those with pledge sheets are encouraged to have them in by Jan. 23.
