Returning state qualifiers Deziray Graham and Lexi Towery will lead the Nocona powerlifting team into its first meet of the season today at Chico.
Graham, who competes in the 220-pound division, and Towery (165) will provide the leadership this young squad needs.
“We are looking forward to seeing them both increase their maximums,” said Nocona powerlifting head coach Jon Shaw.
Shaw takes over the program from Brandon Owen, who took an administrative position in the Corsicana Independent School District.
Owen and former Muenster powerlifter Jenni Luke, who is serving as Nocona’s assistant, have been used as a sounding board for Shaw as he prepares the team what’s ahead.
“We’ve been at it for more than a month,” Shaw said. “We have five total returners, and 12 lifters overall.” Read in The Bowie News.
