OUTDOORS: Get healthy with the TPWD

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has many activities available for people to keep their New Year’s resolutions to live healthier lives.
Walkers may use trail systems found at many Texas state parks. There are plenty of hikes available, even wheelchair-accessible facilities. Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose is a popular destination for an overnight hike.
Bicyclists have a variety of routes, surfaces and distances to choose from at state parks.
There are different bike trail ratings – ranking from beginner to difficult.
At Fort Richardson in Jacksboro, there is a 10-mile trail called beginner to intermediate level, from the TPWD.
Youth trap shooting course offered
There will be a youth trap shooting course offered by the Northwest Texas Field & Stream Association on Feb. 11 at the NWTFS gun range on Old Friberg Road in Wichita Falls.
The course is for boys and girls ages eight through 18 years old. Students must be at least in third grade to participate in the course. Read more outdoors coverage in The Bowie News.
