The Forestburg High School boys’ basketball team mounted a comeback bid late in the second quarter.
The Longhorns grabbed a 23-22 lead after Skyler Sandusky drove the lane for a bucket.
But, then Bellevue responded with nine straight points for a 31-23 halftime advantage.
First, Gabriel Garza scored a putback basket, followed by a Layne Morris mid-range jumper. Garza then stole an errant Forestburg pass for a bucket, and Hunter Fuller drained a 3-pointer from 30-feet away.
Bellevue carried that momentum in the second half, and didn’t allow Forestburg to have the lead again, as the Eagles posted a 64-53 victory in this clash of previously unbeaten District 1A-21 titans.
“I think it was great for our team,” Bellevue head coach Colby Broussard said of Fuller’s 3-pointer. “It fired us up.”
