HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bellevue boys triumph
The Bellevue High School boys’ basketball team found itself down 35-28 at intermission of Friday night’s District 1A-21 home game.
Bellevue erupted for 52 second-half points, including 27 in the third quarter, as the Eagles defeated Slidell 80-68.
Gabriel Garza netted a team-high 22 points, including 5-of-8 from the free-throw line and three 3-pointers. Layne Morris also knocked down three treys are part of his 18-point game, and Dalton Debose chipped in with 15 points.
At Stoneburg
Gold-Burg 64, Saint Jo 46
Gold-Burg outscored Saint Jo 20-1 in the opening quarter, and the Bears were up 41-14 by intermission in this District 1A-21 game.
Kasen Allen dropped in 17 points to lead all Gold-Burg scorers. Overall, four Bears scored in double digits, with Anthony Rios added 12 points, and Tommy Howard and Rayge Gardner 11 apiece. Read more in the Jan. 27 Bowie News.
