New Queen of Bluegrass to perform in Bowie

Famously crowned as “The New Queen of Bluegrass” by the Wall Street Journal, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage will perform in Bowie on April 1.
Tickets go on sale Feb. 8 for the concert at the Bowie Community Center. General tickets are $35 and $25. VIP tickets at $55 will include a meet and greet, a copy of her latest CD and seating in the first two rows, front and center.
“Tiny’s a BIG Taste” food truck will be available with award-winning barbecue. The event is BYOB with a cooler fee.

Vincent is an eight-time International Bluegrass Music Association female vocalist of the year and along with the Rage, their 80 awards make them the most awarded group in bluegrass history.
Vincent’s music incorporates savvy contemporary touches while drawing deeply from the authentic traditions of classic bluegrass, with a flawless band that can execute break-neck instrumentals to heart wrenching ballads.
Her latest project “Taken” features special guests ranging from Dolly Parton to Richard Marx.

JBD Bass Tournament postponed

Due to high lake levels at Lake Amon G. Carter, the Jim Bowie Days Association organizers announced Friday the tournament has been postponed and a new date will be named soon.

AgriLife Extension hosting preserving the harvest workshop

Texas AgriLife Extension will host a July workshop on July 26, Preserving the Harvest, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church of Montague County, 300 W. Nelson.
This four-part series will teach and review the food preservation processes including water bathing, pickling, dehydrating and pressure canning. This program will have both education and hands-on activities with take-home practice.

Cantwell to lead Pioneer Court

The 2025 Pioneer Court will be led by Joan Cantwell as the pioneer queen, with Duchesses Bill Ann Jones and Sue Swint.
A coronation of the court will be at 2:30 p.m. on June 27 at the Bowie Community Center. The public is invited to attend the crowning followed by a reception hosted by the Amity Club of Bowie.
