Bowie pitcher Chandler Dean began the season on a resounding note, recording 17 strikeouts in a 1-0 victory over Peaster in the recap of the American Cancer Society Tournament from Thursday.
Dean allowed four hits over seven innings, and 71.7 percent of his pitches were for strikes. He didn’t yield any walks, either.
“His breaking ball was effective,” Bowie head coach Ryan Rogers said. “He showed command with all three of his pitches. It was one of the best performances I have seen since I’ve been here.”
Bowie stands at 1-1. The Jackrabbits played on Friday versus Decatur and Godley, and the Jackrabbits wrap up tournament action today versus Bridgeport and Windthorst.
