Published

on

Award-winning author Hattie Mae Ratliff will discuss her novel, “Under the Sassafras” during The Friends Book Club meeting at the Nocona Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on March 17.

The club is reading the book for the month of March and it is the first in Ratliff’s Bon Amie Novel series, set in her small, southern hometown of Bon Amie, LA.

The book is centered around Joelette Benoit, a widowed single mother living in the small town. A summary of the novel on Ratliff’s website says Benoit is a widow struggling to provide for her two sons and mother-in-law when her children find a man washed up in the murky water of a swamp. Read the full story in the mid-week News.
