HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Jones preserves no-hitter

In baseball, defensive positioning can oftentimes be the key to recording a no-hitter.
Bowie High School second baseman Keck Jones ranged to his left to snare a sharply hit line drive from Boyd’s Colten Bruce.
Jones preserved Chandler Dean’s complete-game no-hitter as Bowie blanked Boyd 5-0 on the road in District 3A-9 action Tuesday.
“Keck was in good position when the ball was put in play,” Bowie head coach Ryan Rogers said. “He was just a step away from making a play. What a way to end the night.”
Bowie stands at 13-7-1, 7-0 in 3A-9, and the Jackrabbits’ road show continued on Friday at Jacksboro – before returning home on April 12 for a game with City View. Read more, and see complete box scores and district standings, in the April 9 Bowie News.
