TRACK AND FIELD: District 1A-21 junior high meet today

The District 1A-21 junior high school track and field meet will take place starting at 3:30 p.m. on April 25 at Muenster High School.
This is an all finals meet.
Schools competing are as follows: Montague, Gold-Burg, Prairie Valley, Bellevue, Saint Jo, Forestburg, Slidell, Midway and Tioga.
The scratch meeting is set for 2:30 p.m. at the south end of Hornets Stadium.
The starting mark for the high jump will be 3-feet, 6-inches for girls and 4-feet even for boys. The pole vault standard is 6-feet even for girls and 7-feet even for boys.
Field events will start at 3:30 p.m.
Here’s the order: Shot put (girls followed by boys), discus (boys followed by girls), long jump (boys followed by girls), triple jump (girls followed by boys), high jump (boys followed by girls) and pole vault (girls followed by boys).
The 2,400-meter run is set for 3:45 p.m.
The rest of the running events will start at 5 p.m., with the following order: 400-meter relay, 800 run, 100 hurdles (girls), 110 high hurdles (boys), 100 dash, 800 relay, 400 dash, 300 intermediate hurdles, 200 dash, 1,600 run and 1,600 relay.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
