HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Rabbits are moving on

Bowie High School baseball seniors weren’t about to have their season end.
Trace Hardee pitched a complete-game, five-hitter and Barrett Brooks delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning as Bowie topped Howe 6-2 in Game Three of Saturday’s bi-district best-of-3 series at Argyle.
“I never encountered a better feeling than hitting that on Saturday evening,” said Brooks. “I had it set in my head while waiting on deck that it wasn’t going to be my last game ever.”
Brooks was 3-for-3 with two RBI and he also drew a walk, which means he reached base in every single plate appearance of Game Three.
Hardee pitched well enough to help Bowie get the win. Trace allowed two earned runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out three, walked one, and issued one hit batsman over 84 pitches.
“We definitely needed that win,” Hardee said. Read more, and see playoff scores and best-of-3 box scores, in the May 11 Bowie News.
