SOFTBALL: Windthorst second in Conference 2A

Windthorst came in ranked second in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association Conference 2A poll released on May 9.
The Trojanettes are still alive in the playoffs, and they had a three-game 2A-Region I quarterfinal series with seventh-ranked Hawley beginning this past Thursday, winning the first game 8-1.
Windthorst is 29-2, and Hawley has now lost just three games this season.
Archer City and Petrolia have also advanced to the 2A-Region I quarterfinals, with a three-game series starting this past Thursday at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.
Archer City topped Petrolia 10-1 in Game One.
Bowie faced both Archer City and Petrolia during the regular season. Read more in the May 14 Bowie News.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg Sports Banquet

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
