Bowie News is seeking the cutest pets
Pet owners who believe they have the most adorable pet in Montague County will have a chance to prove it during the Bowie News “Cutest Pet” contest.
Winners will win bragging rights and a spot in the first annual Bowie News “Cutest Pet” Calendar. The calendar will be available for purchase beginning in November.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Bowie Animal Shelter, Lucky Paws Animal Shelter and Easy Street Animal Shelter.
To enter your pet, email a picture of your animal to [email protected] or submit online to: www.bowienewsonline.com.
Submissions must include your name, day time phone number and the name of your pet.
Watch The Bowie News website for the gallery featuring all the submissions. A total of 26 entries have been received so far.
The contest winners will be revealed at the Bowie News Pet Fair on Oct. 8. Local animal shelters and pet-related businesses will be in attendance.
Those who would like to rent a booth for the fair may call Dani Blackburn at 940-872-2247 or email [email protected].
There is no fee however, any donations to the shelters are welcomed.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
