Hymns for the Hungry readied

On Aug. 10, Montague County area churches will be sponsoring “Hymns for the Hungry” at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8789 in Bowie.
Everyone is invited to attend this event which benefits God’s Table, a food mission of First Free Will Baptist Church of Bowie. The program will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Through its food mission, the church is feeding anywhere from 25 to 40 people each night, which requires a stocked pantry.
Hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks will be served that night, and there also will be a cake auction. Admission is $1.
Canned goods and monetary donations also will be accepted.
Organizers are seeking churches to sign up for a singing slot during the evening to perform two to three songs each. A sound system, speakers, microphones, drums and keyboard will be provided.
Bring your friends to enjoythe music, praising God and enjoying each other’s fellowship.

Bowie, Nocona libraries wrap up summer reading this week

Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.

Youngsters attend swimming lessons this week
