Nocona City Council approves several NEDC requests
The Nocona City Councilors approved a request from the Nocona Economic Development Corporation for metal signs marketing downtown during their Tuesday night meeting.
The signs currently in use are vinyl, which City Secretary Revell Hardison explained do not last.
“I’m not sure if it’s from all the traffic, but the vinyl signs wear out and get torn up easily,” said Hardison. “The metal signs will last longer and help market Clay Street and point people in the right direction to downtown.”

Bowie emergency responders went to State Highway 59 and Mac’s Grocery Road after 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. It did not appear that anyone was transported by ambulance, but no details were available this afternoon. (News photo by Barbara Green)
Montague County under a tornado warning.
Sirens went off in the City of Bowie shortly before 3 p.m. A tornado warning continues in the area of Lake Amon Carter, Fruitland and Sunset, be in your safe spot. A funnel was reportedly wrapped in the rain.
Early voting for the Nocona General Hospital District Board of Directors saw 285 voters cast their ballot during the first week of early voting.
Ballots may be cast early through April 28. Election day is May 2, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All voting is in the Nocona City County room at 102 Clay Street.
Candidates include two incumbents, Charles May and Ron Brown. De Brown, who had filed for re-election, later withdrew. Steve Bates and Shawn Patton are the other candidates. Three seats are open on the board.
