HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Forestburg girls hold off PV

Published

on

Forestburg head girls’ basketball coach Cori Hayes said the Lady Horns have been able to keep close with opponents through strong defensive play.
“Our defense has been superb so far,” Hayes said. “We’ve found ways to fight back and stay in games because of our defense.”
Forestburg (7-5, 1-2) held Prairie Valley to three points in both the first and third quarters, and the Lady Horns staved off the Lady Bulldogs 17-6 charge in the fourth.
Alexia Britain has shouldered more of the scoring burden since MaKayla Mason has been out with an injury. Britain netted a game-best 15 points while Hope Phipps chipped in with 11 and Cayla Smelser 10.
Brooklynn Messer was Prairie Valley’s lone scorer in double figures with 10. Read more, and see the complete box score, in the Dec. 24 Bowie News.
