AREA VOLLEYBALL: Forestburg overcomes Saint Jo

In what amounted to a match for possible playoff position, Forestburg got the better of rival Saint Jo at “The Dome” this past Friday.
The Lady Horns won by scores of 22-25, 17-25, 25-16, 25-13, 15-6, and improved to 18-11 overall and 4-3 in District 2A-10.
Saint Jo dropped to 9-17, 3-4.
“We didn’t play strong the first two sets against Saint Jo, but we were able to fight back,” Forestburg head coach Rosana Barbosa said. “They were ready to play us and Saint Jo did a great job. They made us work hard for every point.”
Saint Jo head coach Kristi Tallon concurred.
“Both teams played very hard,” she said. “It rallied back and forth until the very end. I am proud of the Lady Panthers for their hard work in this match.”
Haley Nolan and Hope Phipps both had 14 kills, with Virginia Cody putting down six kills and Kendall Wallace four kills plus a solo ace block, a season-best eight digs and five ace serves. Nolan chipped in with three digs. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
