CROSS COUNTRY: Nocona’s Diaz takes 9th
The Nocona High School cross country teams fared well at the Reunion Run down in Decatur this past Saturday.
The Lady Indians, ranked fourth in the state in Conference 3A according to the Texas Mile Split website: tx.milesplit.com.
Miriam Diaz paced Nocona, taking ninth overall with a time of 13 minutes, 9.35 seconds over the two-mile course.
Diaz helped the Lady Indians take third place with 105 points, which was six better than Era.
Crystal Duarte had the second-best time for Nocona, getting 14th in 13:37.28. Flor Gomez was next in 24th (14:06.60).
Yesenia Duarte raced in with a 28th-place finish in 14:21.59. Daisy Ibarra placed 30th (14:23.27) and Victoria Fatheree was 36th (14:39.71). Read more in the weekend Bowie News.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
