LOCAL: Saint Jo Fourth of July winners announced

The winners from events during Saint Jo’s Fourth of July spectacular have been announced.
The volleyball competition didn’t take place this year due to wet grounds stemming from rain on Tuesday morning before play was to begin.
There were seven different basketball teams.
All proceeds from events went to the Saint Jo Youth League.
Here are the results:
3-on-3 Basketball
1, Ethan Hager, Doc Hobbs and Kyle Dangelmayr; 2, Shane Morman, Riley Thomas, Collin Thomas and Logan Morman

There was no singles tournament.

Drawing Winner: Jerry Bray
Steve McDaniel of Kempner and Daniel Brown of Abilene sports their patriotism during the Old Jo Firecracker 5K race on Texas Highway 677 in Saint Jo on Jly 4. Brown recorded a time of 25 minutes, 40.1 seconds and McDaniel at 28:43.8. Complete results will run in the July 12 edition of The Bowie News. (News photo by Eric Viccaro)

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
