Chicken and Bread Days schedule of events
Oct. 6
6-8 p.m.: Sip and Stroll, and Monty Dawson concert, Mason and Tarrant.
Oct. 7
9 a.m.: BTX Bike Rally starts at the corner of Smythe and Wise.
9-10 a.m.: Fiddle contest registration, Bowie Fire Hall. Contest at 10 a.m.
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.:
• Heritage Market and Kid’s Fun Town, foods, crafts and games
• Piston Heads Car Show, Tarrant Street, until 3 p.m.
• Bowie Alliance for Arts Art Exhibition, community room, 304 N. Mason.
• Quilt Show, Higher Purpose Dance Studio, Smythe St.
11 a.m.: Pumpkin Sweep, 11:30 a.m. Egg toss, front of main stage.
Noon – 1 p.m.: Pedal Puller’s registration, corner of Tarrant and Walnut. Competition at 1 p.m.
Live shows: 10:30 a.m: Elvis impersonator Hal Collins; Kevin Polk at noon and Casting Out at 2 p.m.
Local libraries wrap up their children’s summer reading programs this week.
The Bowie Public Library brings the popular Creature Teacher with all their spectacular animals for the final event on July 23 at the Bowie Community Center.
The program begins at 10 am. The children also will receive their prize books for their summer logs.
The Nocona Public Library ends its program at 10 a.m. on July 24 at the H.J. Justin Building at 100 Clay Street. The program will be “Our Own Action Heroes -” Nocona fire, police and EMTs.
