Bowie Councilors table action on Comcell lease for tower

Members of the Bowie City Council tabled action on a lease agreement with Comcell, Inc. until revisions could be ironed out by their respective legal counsel.
The council met Tuesday night for a brief 25-minute session. Officials with Comcell told members they have a contractor ready to begin work on installing a new wireless internet tower that would serve the Silver Lakes Ranch area near Lake Amon G. Carter. The tower would be located on land owned by the city near the lake.
Carl Humpert said this new tower, along with a present tower on the other side of the lake should enable them to provide service to about 91 residences.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
