Incumbents filling the county primary ballots
More incumbents have joined the list of candidates for the March 6 2018 party primaries.
Filing will continue through Dec. 11 with the respective party chairmen. Candidates also will file their campaign treasurer designation and fair practice paperwork with the county elections administrator.
Mari-Kathryn Braswell, chairman of the county Republican Party, said as of Monday 11 candidates have filed for local races.
Tony Desmuke, chairman of the county Democratic party, said Monday there had been no county race filings.
Within Montague County there will be eight offices up for election: District clerk, county judge, clerk, treasurer, precinct two and four commissioners and justice of the peace in precincts one and two.

The National Weather Service reports strong high pressure overhead will bring triple digit high temperatures along with heat index readings approaching 110 degrees for much of next week. To reduce risk of heat related illnesses when outdoors, schedule frequent breaks in shaded or air conditioned areas, and stay hydrated.
Make sure to check on your older neighbors to make sure they are staying cool and hydrates, and make sure pets have shade and water.
