DPS seeking information on fatality accident
Investigators with the Department of Public Safety are searching for anyone who may have information related to an accident that took the life of a 47-year-old truck driver in late October.
Trooper Rachel Russell investigated the crash that occurred at 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 28 on Farm-to-Market-Road 1655, south of Forestburg.
Erich Lee was driving an 18-wheeler hauling fuel south of Roberts Road when he went off of the road to the east. He came back across the road steering hard going to the west side.
The truck rolled over before sliding off the road into the west bar ditch where it stopped. It caught fire and burned.
“Lee told us he was run off the road by another vehicle going the other direction,” explained Russell. “There were no others at the scene, but they also may not have realized there was a wreck behind them.”
Lee was transported to the hospital where he later died from injuries.
The trooper asks anyone who may have information about this accident to call the Bowie DPS office at 872-3390 or the sheriff’s office at 894-2871.
