Fugitive eludes lawmen two days; captured in Bowie Thursday
The two-day search for a 32-year-old fugitive wanted on warrants in Montague and Wise Counties came to an end Thursday night as Brian Dean King was arrested near a Bowie residence.
While the search for King was underway for two days in the county, he has been sought by Wise County since an Oct. 21 incident in Chico. When officers attempted to stop him in that community he jump out of his vehicle, which he left running, and fled the scene. His vehicle ran into one of the deputy’s vehicles. King was captured Thursday evening near a Bowie residence on East Wilbarger, but he also attempted to run from officers, who quickly caught him. Read the full story in the Saturday News. On Friday city officials reported the intersection at Rock and Pillar was closed due to a sinkhole in the street. This area has been experiencing major drainage problems for many years damaging culverts and the street asphalt and concrete, with a portion of the street collapsing earlier in the spring. Drivers should avoid this area.
The Nocona City Council approved a trio of Nocona Economic Development Corporation requests and considered infrastructure work questioned by a city council.
Councilors met on June 10. Two of the NEDC requests had already been presented with the timeclock for comment started. With that time limit over, the requests were finalized.
The Type A and B Boards will spend $19,225 at the Indian Oaks Golf Club for equipment, aerifying and top dressing the greens and batteries for rental carts. It also will expend $20,000 to the Nocona Chisholm Trail Rodeo Arena Committee to build new concrete bleachers, railings, fence and platform.
The third NEDC request is a new one related to a Type B board loan of $200,000 to Amy and Chris Nunneley for a new apartment and office construction project.
