Davis competes at state, finishes eighth overall

The boy’s state powerlifting meet was in Abilene this Saturday and a Bowie lifter represented the county well.
Bret Davis participated in the competitive 198 pound division and ended up placing eighth out of 18 lifters in Division III.
Davis posted a season high total weight of 1,450 pounds.
He set a personal record of 535 pounds on dead lift while equaling his personal record weight on squat and bench press.
His 395 pound bench press was the highest in his weight class by 15 pounds. It was the seventeenth highest bench press in all of Division III.
