County sees four kids advance to regional tennis tournament

Gold-Burg’s DeAnna Molinaro and Matthew Gilbert are headed to regionals after grabbing the mixed doubles championship title at the District 1A-21 match on April 6 in Denton.
“I am extremely proud. They played two Slidell teams and their championship match was over the top phenomenal. They were on fire and won it in two sets. They looked like a couple of pros out there,” said Gold-Burg Tennis Coach Cheryl Cromleigh. “I think they have a really good chance at regionals.”
Forestburg’s JD Moore also qualified in boys singles for the regional meet after a second-place finish at the district meet, topped only by Slidell’s Stone Coston.
Saint Jo girl’s single’s player Jayla Thomas fought hard for her place at the regional meet. She beat Prairie Valley’s Taylor Carter, who will narrowly miss her opportunity to advance, in a playback Monday at Bowie High School.
